Artistic curriculum vitae

Gertrud Maetz was born in Frankfurt a.M..After her final examination, she studied vocals at the Folkwang acadamy (with the vocalist Mrs Prof. Rita Streich), as well as education at the Ruhr University in Bochum.

Besides she successfully participated in the episcopal church-music seminar in Essen. During her studies she took part in international master courses, under the direction of Mrs Prof. Rita Streich, for example at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She completed her studies successfully, with the final examination "Artistic maturity examination (vocal)" and "Self-employed, qualified music teacher with the main subject vocals".

For more than 12 years she taught students for the "Werkgemeinschaft Musik e.V." in Düsseldorf. In the scope of the cultural agreement, she worked as an official adviser in the east of Berlin, in the former DDR and she also worked as an official adviser in music theory and formation of the voice for several well-known choires in the Ruhrgebiet (including the choire of the university of Essen, the police choire in Gelsenkirchen and the precentor of Duisburg-Großenbaum). Besides she was comissionar for vocals at the university of Essen, in the subject line language health therapy. Since 1996 Gertrud Maetz is the owner of the vocal studio "Maetz-Winterscheidt" in the city of Essen.

Her solo activity is not only restricted to the inland. She also does concert trips across the USA, including church-concerts in New York, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Galveston and Mexico, Hungary (Budapest), Denmark, etc.

Apart from her LP "Operettenträume", she took part in different LP recordings, such as "Meine schönsten Lieder zur Weihnachtszeit" (Heino), "This flight tonight" (Phantoms of the Future) and Trance Opera "Debut".

Since 2001 Gertrud Maetz-Winterscheidt leads the choir Bürgerschafts-Chöre Essen.
